Today I was trying to text a pic to a friend who has an LG smart phone I have an iPhone..I've texted her many pics...the pic would fail to send...I could text her a message but not a pic...I sent a pic to myself...DH and another friend all have i devices and those all sent..What the heck...
So I did the ole...press the power button and the home button at the same time till the apple appears..let it do it's thing and magically I could text her a pic again...
Its amazing how many things this little process seems to "fix".....so just a reminder if you have an iPhone or iPad and seem to be having a problem with anything try this...seems it works almost 100% of the time for me...DW

Kudos! I'm so glad you posted about doing a hard reset to try and correct problems. These reminders are extremely helpful, and it's good to have new threads for a heads up. I want to list what I think are the best, simplest ways to clear up glitches on an iPhone or iPad in case it might be helpful:
1. Be sure you have the most recent version of iOS.
(just go into Settings, choose "General," and then tap "About" to see the "Version.")
2. Close the multi-tasking apps running in the background.
(Double-tap the Home button to see recently used apps and then swipe each one up to close all the apps.)
3. Clear cookies, cache and website data in Safari.
(Go to Settings, then choose Safari, then choose "Clear History and Website Data" and tap "Clear" when you see the popup. Then, choose Safari, "Advanced," "Website Data," and clear all that. It won't harm anything, your saved login info -- user ID, passwords -- will remain intact.)
4. Try a simple “Restart:”
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
5. Try a “Hard Reset:”
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for about eight seconds. This will force the device to turn off, even if it's frozen.
If it doesn't automatically restart, just press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until you see the Apple logo.
6. If you still have problems, perform a sync/backup (either with iTunes on your computer or on the iCloud -- whatever you normally do). This should be done frequently, and not only does it ensure you have a good backup it also frees up space and can clear up a myriad of software glitches.

Verizon recommended that I turn off and back on my Samsung Galaxy S6 once a week....My hubby has a Galaxy 5 and I have to remind him to do that when I hear him cussing at his phone

Thank you for the helpful information. You taught me some new things today I didn't know.

I reboot my iPhone at least once a week. Usually more often.
Years ago I put a weekly reminder in my phone at the time to reboot it on Sundays. Helped me to get in the habit.

Infrequently when we are up at the mountains and have had our jet pack ( personal hotspot ) on for the weekend, I would get a message on my iPad that there is no server. Learned to simply turn the jet pack off for a minute and then back on.
Recently we have gotten a message on our old PC that there is a device that is plugged in and " overcharged " and shuts itself down in X seconds. Nothing had been added to the system. Again, shutting it down and back up allowed us to start up the PC and proceed.
Guess even devices need a quick break, LOL
