Oh I feel real stupid.... Meant to say IE11 not Windows... My husband had Hernia surgery last week... Took him home last Sunday... He's having a real rough time... So am I since I have no help.. Sorry going on too much..
Getting back to my issue do you think I should try and upgrade? Since I had that bad experience and other I am just not feeling comfortable doing it..
I really am not into all the latest new electronic stuff.. Just celebrated my 76th Birthday and spent the day at the Surgeon and Urologist..
Oh well that's life....
Many thanks to you and others for your opinion and suggestions..
Will hold off for now...

Hi Lovestodance, yes you should download the update to Internet Explorer. The main reason is that they stop issuing security updates for browser versions which are so updated. If you don't keep up with the browser version you leave yourself open to viruses, bugs, phishing sites not being detected etc. If you ever check you bank account of buy online, which you probably do since you're here, you are not as protected if you don't have the latest security patches.
When you have downloaded it, go to the menu at the top of the browser, where it says 'Help', click 'About Internet Explorer', click the box where it says 'Install new versions automatically'. Then you won't have to actively do it anymore. When you are shutting down your computer and it has an update, it will say 'Installing Updates and shutting down' or somesuch. When you start again, you will have your browser updates.

Kjelle, You are so kind and appreciate taking the time to reply, and how to make it easy for me to do.
Am under a lot of stress now and find the most easy things difficult...
Just to add I don't do any banking on my computer... Just don't feel secure even though I have security protection... However you need to be very cautious which I try to be...
Internet is a wonderful thing, but
can be dangerous at the same time..
Many thanks again...
HAPPY EASTER TO YOU AND YOURS..

Not getting notices from IE 11 lately to download.... Just wondering??

I am using IE 10 and I upgraded with no issues. Will say that about 95% of the time I use Firefox as I like it better and it has run smoother on all the computers on which I have installed it.
Have you tried a different Browser like Firefox or Google Chrome? If not download them and give them a try. You can have as many browsers on your computer as you like without any problems. I have 4 of them on mine right now, but as I said, Firefox is my go to browser of choice. If you want the latest version of Firefox you can get it for free at this link:

(If I would have known, I would have bought three or more Windows 7.)
There is no such thing as Windows 11. I don't know why people come to a shopping channel forum looking for tech advice when most people are clueless about technology here.
Yes, I hadn't heard about Windows 11 either. Now I know why........(lol). Lots of folks are just novices, using computers to access interesting sites, etc. Nothing major. Just fun to read about 'this and that'. The less complicated the better. For me, anyway.......

Please don't upgrade your Explorer. I have Explorer 11 and can't stand it.

Then why are you here?

I just bought a new Dell computer with Windows 8.1 to replace my old Vista computer (that I had upgraded to Windows 7). The first thing I did was set up the interface to resemble Windows 7, thus getting rid of that stupid Start screen (what a waste of space that Start screen is! IMO)
But really, it's running beautifully. I've had no trouble with it at all. I'm not sorry I did it.
The trick is to go with 8.1, not 8. If you have a computer running 8, download the 8.1 upgrade. It's free and it will be a lot easier.
I've also completely stopped using Internet Explorer. It would freeze up on me and I had a lot of issues with it. I switched over to Chrome a while ago and that works better (for me).

At least you used the word "most" not "all", so you could have insulted some that are very technologically savvy on this forum, worse.
And here you are giving someone advice. Remember this one?
