Who doesn't have the need or desire to be online when out and about on a phone? I used to be very techy but have never had the urge to google something etc when out.
I paid 30 bucks for my samsung phone through Virgin and pay 30 bucks a month for text and phone. I can say I could use software for pics but even then I can get those from my kids etc...I just can't see paying all that money for what? but....
I do love my Imac at home.... so just wondering if anyone still feels like me...I can't stand when my kids come over and everyone has a phone in hand I tell them to put them down. Its another addiction IMO

The way people document their lives with pictures of going out to eat,ect it must look like I don't do anything since I have never been a picture taker. Even with a phone, I have to remind myself to get the phone out and take a picture. I was at the state fair, saw some awesome things, it would have been a good time to get a pix of my husband and me, but I was too busy enjoying the experience ( and navigating the crowds). I wonder if I will regret not capturing more of my life in pictures.

You are definitely NOT the only one! I think it's gotten to the point well beyond ridiculous and whatever happened to manners?
I like electronics a lot. In fact, I'm more of an electronics gal than a shoes & bags type of gal. But I think it's so silly that people just let it take them over entirely.
I use my phone as a phone. I don't need (or even like) to be on it all the time. If I'm in the presence of others, I am not on the phone at all. How rude!!
I have many computers and enjoy them a lot - not only for entertainment, but for research, bill-paying, and shopping. But I don't have some bizarre need to be on them all the time.
I guess I just don't understand the need for some to be connected 24/7. It seems kind of desperate but, above all, it's the complete lack of manners exhibited by some that just makes me shake my head. If I'm with somebody and they keep answering their phone (non-emergency of course), or even obsessively checking it, I will finally just walk away.
I don't text at all. I actually have texting blocked so as to stop the spam texts. If I want to send a note I have email for that.

I agree. I couldn't have said it better.

You are by no means the only one. I have several friends who refuse to become part of the 'connected' community, but I also tell them of my grandmother who never learned to drive. She was past the prime age for learning when automobiles became popular therefore she always had to depend on others to take her wherever she went. Some of my friends will not purchase anything on the internet, but they will call me to buy it for them, using my credit card of course, and then pay me when it arrives. I try to drag them kicking and screaming into the 21st century, but have just about given up.
Many of us are not digital natives like today's young folks are. It's difficult for many to understand the culture that entices them to be constantly connected. It's really no different that when we stayed on our pink Princess phones for hours talking to friends while listening to the Beatles.
I agree that many people are too obsessed with their smartphones when in the company of others and I have on occasion joked that they are with real live people who would love to engage in conversation face-to-face. When children in my family come to my home for meals or we go out to eat I set the rule that while at the table phones are put away.....and that includes mine.
I look at my smartphone as a tool. It is my:

Love my phone but I see it the way you do. Half the time I have to call my phone from another phone just to find it.
People are so tied to their phones.... no personal interaction... no need to even look up and see what is around them. Very sad.

I have a Tracfone. $100 a year. I have used it a few times to get an address or check something else online but it's a quick thing, not surfing, and I like having that ability in a pinch. I was just reading an article about how vulnerable phones are security wise. I'd never do banking on one. My phone is for my convenience and when I travel, not for anyone but a few people to get in touch with me any time.
