My husband has a new cellphone (Tracphone/BIG DEAL) He will not be using the wireless function, he will only make and receive calls.

Should airplane mode be on or off..at all times?

I tried calling him today, he was traveling and I could not reach him and wonder if that (airplane mode) is the issue...thanks

Airplane mode more or less shuts the phone off.

@Mom2Dogs

To make or receive calls/texts the airplane mode needs to be OFF.

There's no reason to even look at airplane mode unless you're flying on an airplane.  It allows you to keep the phone on to play a game or something already downloaded but stops calls in or out or internet browsing

Please don't feel that way. It is a technology that you did not grow up with so there is a learning curve. The fact that you knew what to ask shows your  getting the hang of it.

"Airplane mode is a setting on electronic devices, like smartphones and tablets, that disables all wireless communication functions. When activated, it turns off cellular data, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS, preventing the device from sending or receiving calls, texts, or accessing the internet."

Don't feel bad 💕  One of my 14 year old grandkids schools me every so often.

 Thanks every one for helping me...I know I turned it (airplane mode) off because he does not want to use the internet, just make and send calls, but when we were testing the phone in the car he could not receive my call.

I have no one but these boards that can help me, well except google, so I really do appreciate any feedback back.

I hardly ever use my cell phone so I aways use the airplane mode and then power it off. Turning the airplane mode ON saves battery time. Otherwise the phone will keep searching for a connection and that drains the battery.
