I've used free AVG protection for years. My computer recently became infected with a zero access rootkit. Fortuntaley I fixed this issue myself instead of paying someone to do it. Obviously AVG doesn't fully protect yourt computer if you are also using it. I just included Malewarebytes in addition to keeping AVG.

From searching for a fix to my zero access rootkit problem I have discovered that you indeed need more than just one type of antivirus system on your computer. Read the reviews on all the free antivirus systems ( I just googled free antivirus and found all my info).

I may switch to a different free antivirus program; from my research it appears not even the big names in antivirus that you pay for don't always keep you protected. Having malware protection is also very important. If you spend most of your time searching the internet like I do for several hours a day - make sure your computer is fully protected. It can save you time, money and frustration in the end.
