Then how come the neck hole grows larger too.  My head doesn't get bigger when I gain some weight.  I think some "designers" or may be pattern cutters just add an inch to all the patterns.  Very annoying.  I have learned to tailor a bit.  You have to or look un-kept.

What gets me the most is the sleeves get longer!  Really, my arms don't grow longer when I gain weight.
