"free exchanges" what does it actually mean?

Host frequently say shop without worry because you can exchange for another size or color for free.

Exactly what does that mean? To me it should mean I can send it back and exchange for another without any additional charge. Yet online and return label advises I will be charged.

I'd like a clear explanation of how the policy works. Especially if I normall wear a particular size, order that size, but need smaller or larger due to how the item runs because that is not in my control.

It actually means that once the returned item is received, then processed, if the size you want is still available, it should be shipped to you Free of charge -

Trouble is, the sizes often go out of stock, and I believe then you would be charged for the return.

At least, that's what happened to me.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Assuming it's in stock do we paying for shipping back? That's where I see the additional charge coming in.

If it's in stock, then no, they shouldn't charge to mail the correct size to you.

If they do charge you, call the 888 number and speak to customer service to get refunded.

@leigh.  If you exchange an item for another with the same item number within 30 days, you will not be charged return shipping and handling.

Where do you get the idea that you will be charged?

@Ronettes.  You are not charged return shipping if you return for an exchange and the item is not available.

Wrong, I was charged -

When I called to dispute, I was told the item was no longer available in the wanted size, and I had to pay for the return.

@leigh.  No, there's not another shipping charge.  As they say, exchanges are free.

@Ronettes.  You should not have been charged.  Contact the mods with your order # for a refund.

Thanks, I understand shipping back to me is no additional charge I wanted to be sure I understood if I had to pay shipping to qvc.

I've never exchanged before only returned something I didn't like and understood I would pay to ship it back or something that was damaged without a fee.
