Stoped at the Lancaster outlet store yesterday. GREAT deals...buy 3 items 50% off each, 4-6 60% off each.......sounds good so far right? Whenever I shop the outlet I check the website to see the bargains I got........EXCEPT this time. I was very disappointed to find the tagged price (before % off) was actually MORE than web price.
And this was an OUTLET pricing? I have marveled in the past at my good fortune to find items I have wanted at a much reduced price.
What happened Q? Luckily I pass by the store on road trips...but unsuspecting shoppers from out of town don't have the luxury of return.
I do not anticipate passing by within the return policy time frame, so I will pay the postage to return the items (it will still be less than the price difference of just ONE of The items)....just for PRINCIPLE

@cbari I too shop at this outlet. I have found better prices on the "as is" web page, check it out.

I agree with @cbari. I'm about 1 1/2 hours away from the outlet store in Fraser and only get there a few times a year. The last time I was there was in November. The prices were equal to or higher than the website, so no great sale even with the percentage off. These items are NOT new, most are customer returns. There return policy at the outlet has also changed. It's now 30 days. In the past, it was a more generous return policy, especially if you lived outside the area.

I too check as is, the items I purchased yesterday eere not available there.
This is the first time the price exceeded the website.

@cbariWow! I just read about this practice in the retail financial news. I'm a brick and mortar shopper as much as possible so the practice really affects me. On a monetary level far beyond our spending here, I just had to replace an old car that needed an expensive repair - the brick and mortar price and the Internet price were significantly different!
One tip from that article - brick and mortar shoppers like me who know the Internet price is lower can ask for that to be honored and they're usually successful, but the buyer has to ask!

What I often see in stores as a common practice (I also see this online and at the shopping channels), is first raising the "regular" price, then offering a huge (maybe 60%) discount. It's a buyer beware situation.

I have long known that an internet price and a inside store price can be very different. I first found this out when I made a trip to a JJill store for something I saw on-line only to find it at a much higher price in the store. When I asked I was told that their internet prices and in-store prices don't always match and they would not honor the cheaper internet price.
But I would think outlet prices would be much cheaper than an on-line price but I guess nothing really surprises me with QVC anymore.
I've noticed many as-is prices aren't the deal they were in the past and many times the lunchtime and primetime specials aren't a real bargain either.
I think too many people caught on to as-is so QVC doesn't offer the same discounted prices like it used to.

IF I ever shop there again I will certainly check prices before checking out. This is the 1st time this had happened at this outlet store.

This is a very deceptive business practice IMO. These are not new items. It makes you think what kind of merchandise they are sending to customers if they do this.
This goes against the discount store trend dominating in store and online shopping. I guess QVC believes giving the false sense of savings is a way to retain customers. Nothing worse than feeling duped. I was planning on making a visit to an outlet. I guess that is off the table.
Practices like these are why Amazon etc. are getting all the customers. Don't blame those retailers. Others are not providing real value making it hard to keep shopping there. QVC offer real sales; real discounts; not more easy pay and fake discounts.

I have an item on my wish list that has been there for quite a while. Its a C. Wonder tote that I have the matching clutch to. The item is on clearance. I saw it on primetime special last week and when I looked at the price it was almost $15 MORE than the clearance price. I know this because I checked my wishlist where I put prices in the notes section (the QVC app still has the old wishlist format) and saw the price. I was so turned off. I checked the price the next morning and sure enough it was back to the clearance price at $15 cheaper. I could not believe it.
