Re: Should we contact 'corporate' about this website?

I got in today on the first try but it had NOTHING to do with anything QVC had done, I didn't even bother trying the usual log in but went immediately to one of the suggested 'fixes'. This has now been going on for the better part of a week this time, just as it did last time around. It might be nice to know what they're doing about it. It might also be nice if they'd quit tinkering unless they know what they're doing. Does this huge entity not have a Beta site they can play with before foisting changes out there on us?

Re: Should we contact 'corporate' about this website?

My guess is that IT is in the process of being sourced out, probably to China or India.  Like a lot of other businesses.

The board is being hosted who-knows-where now, and probably has moved as well.  All actions almost always associated with mayhem if done on the cheap.

One huge clue:  Anything that is in my cart does NOT show up as in cart when I'm on the board.  So, there are two systems, maybe two servers at work here.

They may not move the board until the last iteration and they are satisfied with the way other things are working.  They are I'd think integrating new warehouses, shipping methods, and servers and software, proabaly in India or China.

Re: Should we contact 'corporate' about this website?

There are now so many posts across so many threads and so many forums indicating user issues related to sign in. One might sincerely hope the problems will be more fully and more timely addressed than they have been to date and not simply be shoved under a rug.

@stevieb@tiny 2@Foxxee,  I believe their IT and other "global services" moved to Poland about 5 years ago.

@dooBdoo

I looked it up and you are correct.

I don't know how long ago this IT specialist worked at QVC, so it obviously it was before 2016.

Here's QVC's statement in 2016.

“The global business services model is part of QVC’s long-term strategy to continue modernizing how we operate as a global entity,” the home shopping network said. “It will provide more efficient and streamlined business services in order for QVC to stay competitive and continue expanding globally.”

Typical.  Americans helped these companies start up, become successful, then they lay them off, stab them in the back, by using foreigners.

Shipping departments to other countries doesn't make a company more efficient and streamlined at all.  In fact, they lose a lot of the control over these very important departments.  Companies do it because they can pay them less than Americans need to live here.

Poland is much better than some of the other countries companies use, though, but obviously, it isn't good enough or we wouldn't have all these problems so frequently.

Thanks for finding and posting this, @Foxxee.  Yes, that's the relocation of their IT services I remembered seeing a few years ago.  Now that I think more about it, there were many discussions here on the forums about the change.

Here's more from their 10/11/2016 press release:  "...The QVC-owned GBS organization is expected to help QVC maintain its competitive edge in a vastly changing, dynamic and competitive global retail marketplace by increasing operational efficiency and establishing world-class global business practices.

Starting in 2017, QVC will centralize critical processes and services in certain areas of the company’s finance, human resources (HR),

information technology (IT), and legal functions for its operations in the U.S., UK, Germany, Italy and France at the Krakow GBS. The estimated annual savings are USD $11 to $12 million once the GBS is fully operational... "

I agree with you, @CalminHeart.

Re: Should we contact 'corporate' about this website?

The madness just keeps on coming. I'm signed into the boards and I'm signed into the retail site. When on the boards, my nick and avatar are showing, as they should, but right above that, it says 'welcome guest'. Huh? Yet, when I examine the drop down for 'my account', my account, not a guest account. is clearly there. This site needs some serious work and a 'system update' seems unlikely to resolve the many problems.

Re: Should we contact 'corporate' about this website?

A novel concept, I know, and unlikely to occur, but wouldn't it be nice if just once a QVC IT representative actually COMMUNICATED with us about the extent of the problem and the status of fixing it... Instead, QVC condones this culture of silence every time there's a glitch. It would be easy for them to post something advising their allegedly valued customers that they're working on the problems...
