I have been shopping at QVC for a long time. When I order clothing , I expect new items. No where on the description does it state it may be a return. I have now received four clothing orders that were all returns. Today, I received pajamas from Cuddl Duds that had a to and from tag that had been filled out.
If I was shopping "As Is", I would expect it. If I shopped brick and mortar, I would see the quality. I have sent emails to the social team and they offered a full refund or exchange. I think I should not have to continue to bring this to their attention. Nothing will change except my shopping habits. I wonder if this is legal to offer a product as new and getting used merchandise. It is just a thought. Thoroughly disgusted.

The only way you can get returns is if the item has been around for a while and people have had the opportunity to purchase, review, and then return.
If you wait to order when inventory has been vastly depleted, then getting a return is the only way to receive something you really want.
Just because something is a return does not qualify the item to be "as is."
As long as an item has not been washed or worn, I consider it to be still in new condition. The category "used" does not really fit this situation.
I think the same for all the brick and mortar stores where I shop.
I have ordered brand new items from QVC (first day on air), returns (been out for a few months), and "as is," and most of the time I cannot tell the difference among all of the categories.
I actually just purchased several clothes items that were "as is (the prices were fantastic!)" and a very expensive "as is" diamond ring. I started shopping QVC mainly for jewelry, and the only complaints I ever have is when I receive jewelry with missing stones.
You may be disgusted, but I am usually quite happy to get something I thought was all sold out!

@elated. If course it's legal to resell returned merchandise. Department store do it as standard practice. If somebody tries a garment on, it's not "used".
I've gotten dozens of returns over the years with never a bad experience. Thank goodness they send them out or I'd have missed some otherwise sold out, great clothing.

@FancyPhillyshopper. I disagree. The majority of returns are made because items don't fit, the color is not as expected or the style isn't flattering. I've had them ship as soon as i order the item.
I've never been disappointed.

In stores, customers will wear something once or twice return it & it will be put back on the rack. Unless it has perfume smells or something on it, you may never know.

@elated, I agree with you. When you order something you expect it to be new, as in you're the first owner, not a return regardless whether it's in pristine condition.
Any return should be marked, and slightly reduced as an "as is" item.
My opinion, these type of business practices have made QVC penny wise and pound foolish and it's being reflected in their financial situation.

Every retailer in the world sells returned merchandise. Or it's been tried on in some store. No one can get away from it. I may try it on out of the bag but then I wash it before actually wearing.

A customer may want to think they are the first 'owner' of the merchandise but chances are in that is not always a fact. I have bought things in stores and then found a reason to return it, I have watched the sales person remove the item from the bag and hang it back on the rack. I've often seen 'non-returnable' merchandise being returned as well, it also ends up back on the sales floor.

@elated Yes this happens to me, to you and to many others. Many of us think or assume we are getting new unopened untouched items but this simply is not true.
I know exactly when I get a returned and/or used item - mostly clothing because that's mostly what I buy here. I can tell by the packaging. It's actually pretty easy to tell if your "NEW" top, pants, bra, underwear, coat etc is new or not. Many of us actually smell the clothing items too right out of the package. We can also tell by the (internal) plastic bag(s) the goods come in too.
Tags taken off, dirty snot rags otherwise called kleenex tissues in pockets (YES THIS HAPPENED ONCE TO ME) - just a few signs that we're getting returned, used, worn, washed, worn, returned goods.
WE ARE NOT THAT STUPID! Am I right??????????????
Sometimes, a lot of times, most times it is just thoroughly disgusting. Women are infamos for doing this stuff, especially now through the holidays, we see a great holiday outfit, buy it, wear it, use it, then return it because well, the holidays are over and we only needed that sequined outfit for a month or so AND back it goes.
We go to brick and mortar, look over the sales racks, find stuff, buy it. We know the stuff is used, returned. Why doesn't this bother us in the store but it does through the mail? Not sure but many of us do this.
Of course online stores like here, hsn, shophq, amazon etc are going to resend returned goods, they don't want this stuff either so we get it every day of the week. Personally, I wash every piece of clothing I get from anywhere USA before I wear it. Some stuff really does bother me like that D&Co sweater coat from years ago I received with that dirty snot rag I found and touched that some woman left in the pocket. I hope she was proud of herself or perhaps just mortified that she did such a disgusting thing.
Buyer beware, don't know how to make US all stop doing this kind of stuff but it happens. So yeah, while we may thiknk we're getting brand new UNtouched goods, this stuff happens and always will. Sad but true, this is us.
