Received Item in a box that was too small

Yesterday I received a cookbook that I had ordered. It had a soft cover. The size of the cookbook is 9-1/2 x 7 1/2. The book was shipped in a box that was 10 x 6 1/2. The book could not lay flat. The pages are bent up. I have put two heavy bricks on it to flatten the pages. I don't understand why the person that packed this shipment would use such a small box.

Have you called to ask that very question?  You deserve an intact book.

@brandiwine. She didnt say the book wasn't intact; she said it wouldn't lay flat.  Usually a couple hours with something heavy on it will correct that situation.  They often ship paperback cookbooks in heavy brown envelopes.

I was an assistant librarian for 12 years and rarely does a book "recover" from a situation like the one described.  I stick by my suggestion that a replacement is in order.
