I purchased the Philip Sonicare DiamondClean 9000 toothbrush. It came with a $50 rebate. Once the package arrived I followed the instructions outlined on the rebate form. Just received an email today notifying me that my request could not be honored due to the following reason(s):

Invalid UPC Number

I clipped the UPC code directly from the box as requested. I don’t have the original UPC code any longer. I made copies of all documents that were sent. I’ve emailed them, so I’m now waiting for a response from the rebate center to determine what was invalid about the UPC code.

I had the same problem in January/February 2023, and they never did give me the $50 (two coupons at $25/ea) rebate.

Had numerous emails back and forth with the Phillips company and they said I did not include a valid UPC number. But I did, because I cut it off the box. Good thing I made a copy and I sent them that to prove I had sent in the correct item. They never gave me the money and they stopped replying to my requests.

Now when I order something and there is a rebate offer, I ask myself if I would want it at the price that is being charged, even if I don't get the rebate. If the answer is yes, then I go ahead and purchase the item. At least that way, I don't have any regrets.

Phillips is in so much trouble right now. They had a recall on CPap machines and have made promises to tons of customers they did not honor. They are being sued for faulty medical devices. Supposedly, according to the video I watched, they knew about problems with their CPap machines for years before the recall. They also have had recalls of their air fryers ad are dealing with that. Watched a YouTube video about a ProPublica investigation into the CPap fiasco last night.

@Aggie2010 - The exact thing happened to me. I gave up, and I never got the rebate.  Smiley Sad

I have reached out to the customer service team at Philips. I first reached out through email several times, but all emails bounced back so I’m assuming the email address they provided is not valid. I just spoke to a representative who stated they would push it through. The issue was that there was a sticker placed over the UPC code (this was how it was received) that caused some numbers not to be visible. The representative kept telling me that I need to resubmit, but after advising him multiple times the original UPC code was submitted and that was how it was received, he stated he would update it as a 1 time courtesy. I don’t think I will do anymore rebates that require items to be mailed in, it’s so much simpler doing it online. FYI if your item has a sticker over the UPC code please be remove it if possible. I saw the sticker but didn’t think it was would be an issue. I will continue monitoring it to be sure everything goes through this time.

@World Traveler

I would have contacted my state's attorney generals office first.  Then I'd file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.

They  shouldn't be. allowed to get away with this.
