Need Help/Suggestions Re Return

I purchased the Up Cart Stair Climber.  It arrived packaged flat and was easy to put into position to use to take things up and down stairs.

 

The first time I used it I easily took a box down stairs and through the rooms of my first floor.  As I was getting ready to take it outside a piece fell off of the stair climber.  

 

The piece that broke off if from the support leg which steadies the unit when it is  standing.  The support leg is also what is used to return the climber to its closed, flat position.  So now I cannot stand the unit correctly or close it to store.

 

I would like to return it since I was unable to glue the piece back into place.  In its open position the item is 30x20x23.  I'm pretty sure they don't make boxes that size so whatever I get to sent it in will allow the climber to move around and break up further in transit.  If I find a box to pack it in I then have to get this box up a long flight of stairs to our post office.  

 

I called customer service to see if they could help me somehow in getting this return back to them.  They just said get a box and return it.  

 

O.K., I know this was long winded but I an hoping that by putting this under Customer Care somebody from QVC can help me with getting this defective piece of merchandise back to them.

I really think CS needs better training. They need to listen to the customers and pay more attention to the concerns of the customers.
