Mods: Question about backorder

I ordered a Christmas tree several days ago. For 2 days, the status said "preparing your order". Then it went to "backorder". Then it went to "preparing order" again. Now it's on backorder again. The tree was sold out when I ordered it, but I found one "as is", & ordered that. Does QVC automatically put it on backorder status when an item is sold out? What are the chances of getting in an "as is" Christmas tree? I don't want to cancel if there is any chance (and I got free s/h), so I thought I'd check with you first. Thanks!
