MODERATORS, Q Social Team: GAME THREADS QUESTION

In the past all game threads were moved to the 'Gamers' forum. Posters were directed to start all game threads there in future. Today questions raised re: the game threads in 'Book Club' forum.

Have your Guidelines changed or do you allow special exceptions? Would be helpful to know for everyone who doesn't want to use 'Gamers' forum.

Moderators ... If my memory serves, it was the gamers themselves who asked for a special forum ... not the mods.   I'd also like to see the special "rule" which states no games may be played in other forums (which we occasionally do ... e.g., "Thread blending" in the Community forum).

Thanks

I would like to know also.

Do all the threads go in gamers?

Or just some threads and if so how

do we know?

Thanks!

😊

But if that's true (that the posters asked for

a forum) why have the Moderators

moved / relocated

threads there and told posters they needed

to put them in Gamers?

I think we need advice imho.

🤔😊

I agree that the moderators should communicate their expectations because I've also seen game threads moved or deleted because they were in the wrong forum.

Odd how there has been no response.  Looks like they were asked for clarification using notifications about 3 hours ago.

           I think it's odd they haven't responded, too, @wildcat fan.

            I was unaware of a change?   The "Gamers" sub-forum was separate all along...  until the launch of the new platform which caused new problems.    The concern is that the game threads are frequently bumped due to sometimes-massive numbers of short, quick replies, and they push the other conversational threads away from the main page.

          Posters did request a separate sub-forum for all gamer threads after the new platform launched because they suddenly were oddly located in "Community Chat," merged with the old "Viewpoints" threads, and were burying all the other discussions.    @SoX, that's what prompted the thread you linked.   There were multiple posts pleading to have all gamers threads moved away from "CC" and from the main forum page.   (Hi, by the way!  Long time no see!)

          As far as I've seen, the moderators always move game threads over to "Gamers" as soon as they're aware of misplacement -- their decision, not the OP's decision.    I can try to find an old thread in which the Q Team discussed it but it would be helpful, instead, to hear from them to know what the status is now.

@dooBdoo  ...

I agree with your assessment regarding all the games in Community Chat ... which, I believe led to complaints from other posters,  who did not play ... that the forum was being clogged with all these "silly" games.  This then led to an outcry from the gamers to "give us our separate forum and we won't bother you."

I'm unaware, however, that playing a simple, fun "authors" game in the Book Club forum violates a "no playing games in ANY forum" rule.

BTW, dooB, how are you?!   Long time no see ...

            Ah, good!   You saw the imbroglio that was a part of our intro to the new platform!    After that, it became a standard practice for the Q Team to move all gamer-type threads whenever they saw them.    I guess the option was to move them all or try and explain why some are moved and others aren't?   Difficulty designating exceptions?    I don't know for sure but I remember discussing this with them on older threads -- I think @Beth-QVC and @Keyai helped us out if my memory serves (hmmmm....  there's no "-QVC" with Keyai's name, I hope he hasn't left us).

          I'm hanging in there, my friend.   I moved not long ago, and I'm still slow as molasses working on a bunch of "stuff" in storage!   Whew!   Thanks for asking.   I hope you're doing well.❤️

@dooBdoo  ...

I think I read that Keyai left the Social Team ...

I don't believe those of us in the Book Club forum are interested in moving to the Gamers forum just for this game.   If the mods close it ... so be it; but I just don't get why this is bothering a few posters, who I don't recognize (with one exception)  as regulars,   think we are breaking forum rules ...

Where did you move, my friend?
