Gosh, using that 'term' has Nothing to do w/ being lazy!

It is a sales gimmick to have you 'hear' a lower price.

Lisa Roberts was the first I remember who started saying 'and change' years and years ago.

And change, right...2 more cents and it is a dollar more!   LOL

Sales tactic , Not laziness.  So they are 'doing their job.....

The OP is incorrect by stating that an "s" or "es" is always added to a noun.

The list of these irregular plural nouns is almost endless:

child...children

man....men

mouse...mice

goose....geese

The examples go on and on......

I've even heard them say $17 and some pennies or $17 and some change. How about $99 = less than $100 😂🤣 only 350 to go around so get yours while the getting is good. There is no auto delivery and these are fuh-lying out the door. @Zhills - When I first read @VGfromMI 's post, my immediate reaction was to get a "red pen" and make corrections.

I was taught correct grammar, punctuation and spelling, not to mention sentence and paragraph structure.

Casting stones at someone else, while making a myriad of mistakes yourself, is a bit arrogant, IMO.
