I got a phone call saying it was QVC and that they were giving promotion codes.  I actually called QVC back and they said they DID call me.  I tried using the promotion code and it said already used.    Huh???

If I was duped then I'd like to warn others.  I backed out of the deal.  I tried it to see if it would work and it didn't.  I never used a promotion code so how could it already be used?

I don't know.....

The caller did not call from QVC's customer service number too.  It was some 800 number that said QVC customer Service.  I don't think it was them.

QVC......this number called and said they were YOU

800-367-9444

If this is not you there's gonna be trouble.

This number called me and said oh use the code.  I tried it and it said already used.  I don't ever remember using a code so how could I already have used it.  I'm gonna take this to the authorities AND put what I owe you in an escrow account.

I'm NOT joking.

@77yangya

If that number called you trying to GIVE you QVC codes, then your line might have been hacked.

QVC has never called people with savings codes to my knowledge.

If hackers are now able to "grab" phone numbers and hack into them (which did happen to me once two years ago) then

WE ARE ALL S________!

In this instance, hacking into a phone line and then posing as someone else would be an issue for the FTC...(Federal Trade Commission).

In my case, the incident upon checking somehow just came up with AT&T. [It happened on Snapchat]

Telephone scammers know how to change their "caller ID" to ANYTHING.

I frequently get calls with the ID of "City of Phoenix"...and it's some teenage-sounding "boy" saying, "Ummm  duh uh...is dis da mrs?".

I have also received calls with MY OWN caller ID showing...

I'm adding to this thread because I received a call from QVC CS today. I recognized the number immediately. The woman explained that QVC was asking long-time customers to participate in a survey......

When I received the call, the number shown on CID was 800-367-9444, which is their CS number. "QVC" wasn't included. I answered because I know the number by heart.

How can QVC be held responsible (holding money I owe you in escrow) if the OP got "duped"?

That is one of QVC's customer service numbers because it's the one I've used since I started shopping here decades ago.  However, it also could have been spoofed, as any number can be nowadays.

I have received a call from that number and it was a Q representative, however they did not give me any codes.

If you went to the QVC site to use the code and it did not work, you're not out anything and could have chosen not to order as it sounds like you did.  But there are any number of reasons why the legitimate codes won't go through.

Doesn't an  escrow  refer to money being held by a third-party financial institution for "safekeeping" during a LARGE financial transaction?

Re: I Got Duped!

[ Edited ]

Hackers can steal Caller ID very easily.

A foreign hacker stole our companies telephone number through Spectrum.

Called our bank to do transactions...and the caller ID showed the bank it WAS our phone number when it was not us calling.

1-800-367-9444 IS the valid CS number I have used for years, BUT just because it is showing up on your caller ID, doesn't necessarily mean it is QVC calling you.

It is NOT QVC's fault if you got duped.  Your threat of calling the authorities will get you no where against QVC.  Whatever debt you have w/ Synchrony or QVC can NOT be put in escrow.  You still owe it.

Unfortunate that these evil thieves tried to get you, but you are blaming the wrong entity.

@Desertdi   -  It can also be used on a smaller scale.  Think home buying.  A person having trouble with a landlord.  Etc.
