@HopingForTheBest… I bought many holiday candles.. 18oz and the a few 80oz.. but really bought more scents in the same sizes with the EJ collection.
I rarely experienced any soot.. but I would remove any black residue/debris on the wick (esp if I burned it first hours) and never recieved any
soot which surprised me. I've used parrafin wax candles in the past and they almost always produced soot.
But also i have been perusing the subreddit forums for frangrance and one for luxury candles which has offered a wealth of info..lol
So maybe try removing any debris from the wick and also trim too... I do trim the wicks occasionally with a candle wick trimmer which helps too. Good luck! I am now back to being obsessed with the candles and fragrances...ha
Oh..I meant to add, that the placement of your candle can make a big difference in possible reducing the occurence of soot. Make sure when burning that your candle that the flame is not disturbed...meaning that the flame should remain steady and not "dancing" (note to self) or bounces...try another spot for your candle.
Drafts from open vents, open windows, or fans (guilty in the past) can disrupt the flame and cause sooting.
Good luck ....I love the scents and creating a certain ambience in my room..or my other rooms in the home. They certainly can be uplifitng and mood altering as scienctic research indicates..and Harry himself has studied.
I hope everyone can findthe perfect candle or another form of aromatherapy that will help you create the perfect environment that brings you joy, peace and happiness.
