? FOR QVC ON SHIPPING CHARGES

[ Edited ]

Can someone AT QVC answer this question for me????

Why does QVC charge $3 for a GALLON of Wen to be shipped, but on handbags that come in the plain old QVC regular box cost QVC charges $10.95 to ship?????????????

When I add in the cost of shipping to purchase a handbag from QVC, I comparison shop and can find better deals elsewhere...

I guess because the WEN gallons fall under a "Special" price.

Not many people would pay the high price of shippng a Gallon of WEN

That's a great question!

I ship all the time, and all I know is that shipping is determined by weight, size and destination....

..... and I've never been able to figure out Q's shipping.....

Because they CAN and people pay it!  Also probably insurance comes into it, but most likely it's just because they can.

Why does QVC charage $3 for every pair of pants ordered at the same time, same size just different colors, delivered in the same package, yet each one is charged $3?  Because they can.

Re: ? FOR QVC ON SHIPPING CHARGES

I'd be willing to bet the shipping charges are somehow related to the deal the vendor makes with QVC (or whoever else sells their products)

No matter the reason, I just decide whether the price of the item I want makes sense to me -  and that price is the sum of the item's price plus any shipping.  I exclude tax because I can't think of much of anything I don't pay tax on and the seller's don't control that -  my legislature does.

If they want to charge me more to send a handbag than they do to send heavy beauty products, I'll pay it --- unless I can satisfy myself elsewhere for less.  Sometimes I can, sometimes I can't!  Earlier this year I paid QVC $10+ to send me a Dooney bag which I couldn't buy elsewhere at any price.  I wanted it, love it -  and saving that $10 wasn't going to do me a bit of good.

I don't even try to figure the why -  mostly because knowing why wouldn't change what I buy.  In fact, I almost bought a second one of the same bag when they went on clearance and I'm sure the shipping would have been the same.  Then I got sane and decided to wait for a different style.

Re: ? FOR QVC ON SHIPPING CHARGES

Shipping charges at QVC and other retailers have little or nothing to do with the cost of shipping. Many companies have free shipping. This doesn't mean the USPS gives them free shipping.

Shipping fees are simply a marketing tool. I'm sure QVC has done surveys to determine what price points generate the most sales.

What should you do?  When making a decision to purchase, look at the total cost: Price, shipping, tax. Do some comparsion shopping on line. Choose the best price. We have many options these days.

I imagine the rest of the actual shipping cost is reflected in the price of the merchandise, which is riduculous.   I can't imagine paying that much for shampoo but I guess you have to if you want to join the WEN cult and talk about your stash of gallons.

@Kachina624  Perhaps you hit the nail on the head---perhaps the price of the hair care products incorporates a "membership fee" Woman Wink

@Dorothy11 Hi DOROTHY! in my opening post I mentioned that this shipping fee makes me shop elsewhere--I do comparison shop, but it's just strange nonetheless why do handbags have carry such a high charge compared to the other products at QVC---I know not only me but other customers that purchase handbags have had the same qustion and it's causing QVC to LOSE SALES!

@millieshops You might be willing to pay more for something you really like or that you can't find elsewhere, but if shipping is not reasonable, for me and others, it's a NO SALE! I'm not willing to throw away good money for shipping when other retailers charge a fee that makes sense! Or I can go to a local store Macy's/Dillards when they are having a sale get the same bag and no shipping too...oh there might be an exception when a national brand offers a bag exclusive to QVC and that depends on what one is willing to pay---for me there are other bags that will suffice as well...
