BACKORDERED AFTER PURCHASE???

I purchased Charlie Bears Tushy Peg several hours before his presentation on TV. At the time of purchase, he showed in stock, my Paypal payment was accepted and the order status indicated "processing". Later, I watched the Charlie Bears show and the presentation of Tushy Peg. The host and vendors both indicated that this was the final quantity, starting with 4 dozen then down to 2 dozen by the end of the presentation. The next day when I checked my QVC account, Tushy showed on Backorder. I called Customer Service and they gave me some scripted response about the delay and if he didn't come back in stock in 3 weeks the order would be cancelled. No one could answer my questions as to how this happened. How could an item show in stock at time of purchase, be presented several hours later with 4 dozen available, and then how can it be "backordered" when we are told the "final quantities" are being sold??

Re: BACKORDERED AFTER PURCHASE???

@Silverclay

This happens all the time.  There are dozens and dozens of reasons why and how it could have happened.  Stock was not received yet, inability to ship the item, computer inventory errors, etc etc.

I have ALWAYS received something that went to backorder.  Can't say 100% you will, but in my experience within a couple days it has gone into processing.  You ordered b4 it went on air, so you should be at the top of the list.

I am not always so lucky with waitlist and sometimes it gets cancelled, but I have had good luck with backorders.

If you really want it, be patient and do not cancel the order.  Wait to see how it plays out.

@Silverclay  Hi, I am sorry to see that your order is in a backorder status. @RespectLife is correct, it could be any number of reasons an order is placed in that status. I would give it a bit more time to see the outcome. If you need additional help with this order feel free to contact us at QVCSocialTeam@qvc.com.

I think it would be helpful for the customer to know the specific reason why this happened. It would certainly make a difference to me.

Re: BACKORDERED AFTER PURCHASE???

This just happened to me!  I had a pair of shoes "in process" after seeing them On Sale on the website.  Three days after I confirmed my order on the phone with Customer Service I got an email from QVC telling me the shoes were now on "Backorder" because they actually didn't know if they were in stock when listed "For Sale".

WELL -- isn't it kind of fraudulent to offer an item for sale, complete a transaction, then retract the offer?  At the very least it's unethical especially  when the purchaser believes they will be receiving an item that they've paid for?  If this practice is common at QVC there should at least be a disclaimer in the item's description and the Order Status at the start of the transaction so that consumers are fully informed of all possibilities.  This deception doesn't bode well for the reputation of a company as BIG as QVC.

This happened to me twice recently in the past month.  The first time, it was "in process" for several days, and then changed to "backorder" and remained at that status for several more days before it eventually shipped.  The second time, same exact thing happened, but I decided to cancel it once it went to "backorder" status because I didn't want to wait on it (the Cuddl Duds TSV cabin socks).
