I tip when appropriate. I don't feel guilty about it either.

I'm with you on this one, brii. Tip for the guy who does our hair. I don't have any manis or pedis, so nothing there.

If we get really good service while dining, we tip 20%. If the service is just 'so so', the server will get less, but we never leave nothing.

The only other time we tipped was when we had some major landscaping done which turned into a few days. We tipped each of the 4 workers $15 and they were very grateful for it. They did work for us twice now and maybe they remembered us from the last time they did work for us.

I think it's a very individual, personal thing.

I made a comment on this topic----there are etiquette books available and the answers are probably available on Google--

Maybe people who ask about who to tip are just trying to be nice?

I think when someone is in the mood for a good argument they start a thread about tipping. (Not the OP, just in general.)

I am waiting for the post when someone has anxiety over tipping the cashier at kohl's for bagging their purchase. what about the person at taco bell? krispy Kreme? how about a post on who we aren't going to tip. ENOUGH.

are we so worried about what another person thinks about you? what about all the Walmart cashiers. surely they deserve more than they are making. should they all have tip cups out as well? ok, rant over.

What brought this on ??? {#emotions_dlg.confused1}

Re: why are so many obsessed with to tip or not?

don't ask me why but this topic kinda hit home today w/me! I usually tip my pedi/mani girl $10 every time & add it to my charge. ok today she takes me aside and says "" don't you carry cash?"" WHAT????? I said why? she said they put a new policy in effect the owners of the salon are taking $1.50 service charge from each customer if they tip on a charge. and I might say she had no problem telling me she makes about $200/day in tips and that could really add up!
