whoo hoo! I know what I'm getting for Christmas!

We'll be getting a new roof! Our old one is shot so I'm actually pretty excited--no more being the neighborhood eyesore!

@GoneButNotForgotten : I totally understand.

My gift giving theme for the last couple of years: Talk with family and friends about what items they really need and could use for gifts and to be something that is within the gift giving budget.

For the last two years , one of my needed items is the long handle grabber thing. I need one for every room because I am constantly dropping something. They laugh and reply: Stop joking and tell me what you need?!! Me: I just told you what I needed.

I love practical presents.One year I asked for an ironing board (WHAT was I thinking?????) so husband and son wrapped one up to make it look like a surf board Woman Very Happy it's one of my favorite Christmas memories.

A great present I had a while ago, after a severe hurricane damaged my house, roof and interior, was two of my brothers who showed up to fix the walls and doors. (I woke up the day after the storm to find that not a single door in the house would shut.)  Their company was a lot of fun, too--they put in orders for our mom's special dishes, which were fun to reconstruct for them.

I got a new roof, which is HUGE, when I got a big tax refund one year.  And not til then! Congrats, GoneBut Not Forgotten....

I had a friend who commented on the wisdom of the old phrase, "a roof over one's head." _Much_  better than a leaky roof in Hurricane season!

A memory. When my husband and I were getting married my father took me to Sears to get me an ironing board. I picked one out and he said no get the better one. I still have it. He knew best.

I have for last 2 years  said....i need/would like 6-8 gallon bottles of spring drinking water....do they listen? / no...

So when i have someone take me grocery shopping...i have to put water into my cart 6-8 gallons..

then put into someones vehicle...

then  take them out   again

 then have to take them into my house

We are turning a bay window into patio doors. It'll be installed on 12/16. We don't celebrate Christmas, but still a nice gift.
