DH and I don't exchange gifts with each other but we are meeting with contractors next week to discuss having our stucco exterior replaced with siding.  When our neighborhood was built 20 years ago, the stucco was not applied correctly and many homes in our neighborhood have had problems with leakage.  Ours is failing in the back of the house.

@ninjawife I don't know where you live but this has been an issue with a lot of homes in my area!  Before we moved here we had a fixer in south Jersey and the home was all stucco.  Never had a problem with it.

However once we moved to a new home in PA (30 years ago) it seems that a lot of the developers didn't apply stucco (mostly to the fronts) correctly and now years later people have been replacing it with siding.

Fortunately for us we opted for a brick front but a close friend of mine who lives around the corner is going to have her stucco replaced in a new weeks.

She's only having the front done because to put up new siding on the entire house would cost almost 40k!  I think that's just so crazy expensive.  The rest of the house has siding and she found siding for a perfect match to the side & back.

We'll be getting a new roof! Our old one is shot so I'm actually pretty excited--no more being the neighborhood eyesore!

We were planning on getting a new roof next spring, and hopefully new gutter and exterior paint.  But, as always, something's come up.  Need a new furnance and AC unit for basement.  We've been putting it off for a couple of years and can't hold off any longer.  We have already replaced to AC's and the main furnace in the house to these are the last ones.  At least it will be done.  But I was really wanting the roof done.

If you have big attic like ours, make sure the roofers won't leave any damage.  They bang those hammers and nail drillers making the house shake and jiggle.  They damaged one window (it blew out) and an antenna.  Plus strips of wood littering the floor.  Our attic is big. Like an additional Level.

I absolutely love practical presents! If it's what I need then I'm thrilled to get it! The fun stuff I will buy for myself!
