Re: whoo hoo! I know what I'm getting for Christmas!

@SouthernBee   Using the one my dad had (I was a caregiver) has helped me a lot.  The stores need these for shorter people, or those of us shrinking, to reach those high things. The people in stores who have to ride thru the store to shop, could use those too.  If you don't have one, get one!!

We got ours recently done.  It looks good, but they kind of beat up the attac while at it banging at the roof.  They left it a mess.  Today cleaners are coming up to clean it out.

@qualitygal : Totally agree and understand. I am short. I have purchased 4 but still need one for the laundry closet and the hall bathroom. I use a stand up walker and this will make things so much easier. I am trying to keep moving, clean house and cook and do other daily necessities.

DH and I don't exchange gifts with each other but we are meeting with contractors next week to discuss having our stucco exterior replaced with siding.  When our neighborhood was built 20 years ago, the stucco was not applied correctly and many homes in our neighborhood have had problems with leakage.  Ours is failing in the back of the house.

Re: whoo hoo! I know what I'm getting for Christmas!

For a number of years now, DH & I have exchanged very small gifts (books, favorite candy, etc.) just to have something under the tree to open on Christmas morning. I'm like a kid about that--must open a gift on Christmas morning, even if I already know what it is!

Where our money has been going is into our 36 year old house...two years ago, we replaced carpet with hardwood in our MBR & LR. Last year we remodeled both bathrooms. This year we're installing a generator.

I don't "need" a thing for myself...I have more than enough clothes, shoes & jewelry.

We really don't need anything and haven't exchanged Christmas gifts for some time. But, if we think of something, we let the other know.

I asked that my dusty car be detailed for Christmas!

I love practical presents.One year I asked for an ironing board (WHAT was I thinking?????) so husband and son wrapped one up to make it look like a surf board Woman Very Happy it's one of my favorite Christmas memories.

@GoneButNotForgotten Very cute!

However one year my DH (this was long ago) gave me a bathroom scale....that was not cute or funny and it annoyed me!....I let him know how I felt about it.

It's different when you ask for something practical vs. a not very pleasant surprise!

This year I asked for a few pieces of Caraway cookware & bakeware.

We were planning on getting a new roof next spring, and hopefully new gutter and exterior paint.  But, as always, something's come up.  Need a new furnance and AC unit for basement.  We've been putting it off for a couple of years and can't hold off any longer.  We have already replaced to AC's and the main furnace in the house to these are the last ones.  At least it will be done.  But I was really wanting the roof done.
