I don't like anything at all about fire crackers. What is there to like? They are loud, disruptive and dangerous. I work in hospital and I see the injuries that people, including children get for their fire crackers. I think the small "poppers" are okay in my state but the larger ones are illegal. That doesn't stop people from crossing the boarder to buy them in NH. And they don't wait for July 4th anymore, I'm hearing them at night now, I have been hearing them for about a week. My cat is kitty heaven now, so he won't have to suffer through them again this year. The older he got, the more frightened he got. I don't and never did see the "fun" in fire crackers. I do love real firework!

My dog was just terrified the whole weekend last year, and I swear people were shooting them off all through the night. I did not sleep at all last year on the 4th - you could hear them until 5:00 in the morning. Anyway, this year I got some doggie downers from my vet. I hate to give them to her but it's better than her shaking and not eating or drinking for a whole weekend. She did not even want to go out to do her business last year. Not to mention, there is usually a news report of someone losing a hand or an eye.

More pets are lost on the 4th of July, than any other day of the year due to fireworks.

My poor dog shakes now from loud thunder after we have had so many t-storms lately..i dread the fourth.
On another forum..it was suggested to give allergy meds to pets to calm them.i am going to do so .

I absolutely hate them! And they are legal in SC (go figure) so when the tourists are in its like a free for all. They are on vacation, so they are entitled to shoot them off any time they want - which is usually from 10 pm - 4 am. Some of the businesses used to set them off on certain nights, again for the tourists, and they were loud - I live about 3 miles away and we could hear them.
