hihi --
i hope one of you knows where/how to find the answer to this question.
i had planned to be traveling by Amtrak next weekend. the problem is that i have a cast on my foot/leg and can't walk long distances, like from where i'll be dropped off at the station to the train. i'd hoped to be able to get a red cap with a wheelchair at the curb, and another one at my destination to take me from the train to the street.
called Amtrak. the lovely reservation agent didn't know if the red caps would/could do that. she called each station and didn't get much additional information. she's pretty sure that i'll be able to locate a red cap inside each station, but wasn't able to tell me where or how far that would be from the entrance. she also wasn't able to assure me that a red cap would be able to meet my arriving train w/a wheelchair. not much help after all.
i tried calling each station directly. the number i found for 1 station was the retail leasing office. the number for the other station was the lost and found. i cannot find a phone number for anyone like a station manager or red cap at either station. what to do?
if anyone can find a way to reach a live and helpful person at either union station in dc or penn station in newark, nj, i would be very grateful.
