In all due respect, let's not forget America's Queen for a Day:

I'm not sure about that @Mindy D .  Would have to research that.  I think this depends on the Monarch itself.  Not all of them share the same types of rules that Great Britain has.  There are only two ABSOLUTE monarchies left, one is in Saudi Arabia and the other is a country in Africa.

Then there are Constitutional Monarchies and Parliamentary Monarchies.  They all mean something different.

True. The rest of the Queens are Consorts.  Queen Maxima is in the US right now.

@beckyb1012 I haven't read that anywhere.  Wherever the term "consort" is used it is typically referencing the Queen of Great Britain.  Other countries might not go out for this sort of thing.  Each country is different.

It will an interesting research project for me though, as I like to read.....stuff!

The current Queen of Denmark's late husband wanted to be called King but he was titled Prince Consort.  He never got over it and a few months before he died he said he did not want to be buried next to her.   The following month it came out he had dementia.  But he did think he should be King even though she was the true heir to the throne.
