Remember this is the net, so don't reveal anything too personal,we like to think we are among friends ,but things don't always work out that way
I will start by telling you I named my son, for a childhood friend, that was killed on Easter Sunday
Our mother's were best friends. He was my first real playmate. He was a blond, Nordic looking boy. His father was greens keeper at our local country club. His death ( accidental) was quite tragic, so I won't go into details
I remember daddy coming upstairs, in my grandparent's home, to break the news. I was only about 6. I can still see daddy, as a dark figure ,because he was standing against the sun ,and it blocked out his face. It was just like yesterday. I will see his dark form, and hear his broken voice until I die
This is a sad beginning, I guess, but with Easter approaching soon ,it has been on my mind. If you can see me ,dear friend, I still love, and think of you.

I have a best friend from my childhood and we communicate regularly by real letters. I usually visit her in Canada once a year when we travel up that way. I'll be up there in early May. I guess it is unusual to have a close friend for so long. Lucky me.

I'm a bit of a collector - okay, in all honesty, a lot of a collector. My first love is depression glass, especially lemonade/ice tea pitchers that still have their original lids. I love Americana, collect deco dresser sets (I especially love the old glass powder jars). I buy paper dresses from the 1960s and frame them. Recently I've started collecting vintage hair sticks. I wear a lot of vintage clothes - yes, look for the union label. It breaks my heart to see us throw away so much of our history and things we used to manufacture. My daughter has no interest in my "stuff," but thankfully my granddaughter loves my things, loves to hear what they are and when and where they were made, so someday my collection will be hers. My heart sings with every new treasure I find and "save."

@cherry Your story touched my heart. Bless you. Even my closest friends probably do not realize that I'm claustrophobic. I'm an energy driven, will try anything, not afraid of much (except spiders) but I am so catastrophic. Elevators especially and I have to always sit in an aisle seat on an airplane. I grew up with three younger brothers and as soon as they found out my weakness, they would always pin me down just to hear me scream. Yikes.
