I placed an order with amazon a couple of days ago. Yesterday I got an email saying there was a problem with my method of payment. I don't remember what most of it said. I was 99.9% sure there was no payment problem. I do remember there were alot of links in it to various places "at amazon" (I think).
I went to the amazon site (NOT through any of the links in the email) and there's a new help link there, or help question or something, about emails. Apparently there's some "phishing" going on.
I checked my order. No problem. I checked my payment method. No problem. So I reported the suspicious email.
Today I got another email from amazon...my order has shipped. This confirms my suspicion that the other email was fraudulent.
Long story short...if you get an unexpected email from amazon, don't click any links in it. That, in itself, is good advice for any email. Go to amazon thru the website and check things out there.
It's been so long since I've been "phished" by anyone, I thought it was a thing of the past. Apparently not.
