2 evenings in a row when DH and I went for our evening walks we had sun showers (raining while the sun is shining) and that is sorta odd but both days we also saw beautiful rainbows - even more odd , esp. here in Pa. I see many more rainbows in Fl. Then this morning we were running errands and no rain but look up and , yes, another beautiful rainbow. How cool is that?!!

That happened here the other day. The sun was shining and it was raining. Then we saw the most amazing rainbow.

Love when that happens...

We have that often and always watch for the rainbows. Love it when we see doubles.

HH, I am a few miles to the west of you. We have rainbows fairly often, sometimes doubles.

In Arizona and New Mexico I experienced sun showers. In Hawaii I saw what seemed like a lot of rainbows.

All amazing.

Aren't sun showers neat! It will be pouring and the sun shines. I am a life long resident of PA and I don't remember them when I was growing up.

Iwas just on the phone with my family member who does not live more then mile from me she said it is pouring down hard rain at her home. I was on my back porch and the sun is shining and not a drop of rain falling here. The other day what HH weather was doing ours was the same only the sun was shining and it was raining like crazy and thunder and lightening all at the same time. We are east of HH, yesterday when all those storms were coming through here, a few streets away every thing was blowing around here it was as calm as could be. It is amazing how this weather is this summer. Rainbows all the time this year. We had rain during last night a friend who lives close to me had to get up and she said it was not raining at her home at that time.

Sun showers are really unique and usually don't last long. As for rainbows, read somewhere that they are dependent on the position of the sun shining through water particles in the air (my description ). They are most likely to occur late morning and late afternoon, again the positioning of the sun is important. They are truly beautiful and the few double ones seem to be a special gift.

Someone here at the campground said there were toronados last evening in Portersville. YIKES - that is only 8 miles away. This kind of weather is scary when you are living on a mountaintop in a camper.
