Me too.

Thanks for the invitation to join the thread next year. I will do so as no one around here wants to talk Yankees except to demean them. I was born in Brooklyn, raised in Queens but when I got married we moved to Long Island. My late husband, God rest his soul, used to take our son up to the old stadium for many home games. He was born and raised in Ohio but always wanted to live in New York and that is where I met him. Actually, he was my professor in grad school at St. John's in Queens. I miss him so much and I miss home. The standard of living here is unbelievably inexpensive compared to home so I've decided to stay here close to his grave. I'm going to try to go home next summer. Thank you, again for the invitation to join the thread. I hope we have a better year next year. Good luck with your crock pot decision. I use mine just about every week during the fall and winter months. There's nothing like coming home to a hot and hearty home cooked dinner. docsgirl
docsgirl,
First let me tell you I'm sorry for your loss. Your love for your husband comes through loud and clear in your posts.
In what general area of Ohio do you live? I have a dear friend who is from the Cincy area. She now lives in Indiana and misses home.
Yes, the standard of living is much less expensive where you compared to around here. I hope you do get home next summer.
Please do join us next year. There is a fun group of us who talk Yankees, "watch" the games together and go through the whole season together.....the good, bad and ugly. lol lol

i have a good old RIVAL.....probably well over 10 years old. it is oval and has a removable heavy ceramic pot with a glass lid. the handles on the base are plastic so no heat transfer. i dont use those plastic disposable liners, for me, it isnt necessary. the ceramic pots clean up so easily and can go into the dishwasher also. i think the oval style is a lot more versatile. it has served me well. no fancy electronic pads, just a on, low, and high switch. thats it. nothing fancy, but works well, and gets the job done.
I have this one too, but the lid has hinges to lock it on.
The only thing I don't like about it, it's a stainless steel outside and OUCH if you happen to get your hand or arm too close to it while it's on. It would melt the skin right off you.
