i feel bored. What to do next? {#emotions_dlg.confused1}

One of my sisters who quit smoking said she tried to find things that never did while smoking, things she didn't automatically associate with cigarettes if that makes sense. She never smoked in the tub, or in the pool, for example, so she took a lot of baths and swam a lot. She said she was going to be wrinkled like a prune but she'd be tobacco-free!{#emotions_dlg.w00t}

Tootsie roll pops are a great idea, too!Smile

I tried a trick that caused chaos. For example, switched breakfast foods, route to work, where I put my keys, switched drawers and cabinet contents etc., It is supposed to either cause confusion, or cause greater focus on the task at hand so that you don't think about cigarettes. For me, it worked for a little while to sort of keep an "equally anxious" feeling all the time so that I couldn't discern when it was being caused by my need for a cigarette. I know. I'm odd.

I don't think you're odd.Smile What you say makes sense, and the fact is what works for one person isn't always going to have the same results with another. I'm lucky in that I never even tried smoking a cigarette, but I've seen family and friends go through the grueling process of breaking the habit. I don't think anyone can overestimate how tough it is to break, and I have the utmost admiration for those who work through it and succeed.
