sometimes, getting an extended warranty pays off

We never buy extended warranties when we purchase cars, electronics, etc.

2 1/2 years ago, we bought a 46 inch Samsung LCD flat screen..... when they were still very expensive. As a spur of the moment thing, we bought the extended warranty also.

Last year we had to have the lamp replaced in it (or something like that). That repair paid for the extended warranty.

We've been having problems with it again since late October. We've been working with Best Buy- repair people have come out, parts have been ordered, but nothing has taken care of the picture problem. Last week they ordered another part and were scheduled to come tomorrow.

We got a call from them today and they said that the part wasn't available and that we are to come in and get a new tv- same size, features, technology. They gave us a confirmation code and told us to bring it to customer service and we'll get a new tv with no cost to us.

We were thrilled with that. Turns out that extended warranty worked.

Can you believe it though, that they couldn't get a part for a tv that's only 2 1/2 years old???

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?
