This question is being asked by someone born in Pasadena, CA - What is the difference between snow and lake effect snow?

I almost ordered a roast from Kansas City yesterday but decided with all the shipping issues to just get something from my local butcher. Where I live we are suppose to get 12-15" between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. I feel for everyone who ordered food and I really feel for the UPS/Fed-EX drivers.

Being from NE my Jeep and I love it! :-) We haven't had much snow in the last few years so I'm looking forward to it! Going to have clam chowder, cheddar bay biscuts, steamed shrimp and salmon. :-) Have to enjoy it while we can since Christmas week already looks like the temps will be back in the 50s.
@eadu4 Disappointing but look again if you haven't already... Pretty much all we'll see around NOVA is slop... Rain and the ubiquitous 'wintery mix'... Face it, we're cursed around here to never see seasonal weather for the holiday season... That 50 degree Christmas has become so predictable, it's almost laughable, often damp and muggy too... So very festive...

@stevieb sadly yes I have been watching my hopes melt away :-( *sigh* very disappointing. Oh well there's always January!! I was so hoping for a white Christmas. But yup going to be another 50s degree Christmas. I really wanted to make snowmen with my grandkids and play in the snow. The state was actually hoping for snow since they have a bunch of plow drivers with no experience due to the last few years being almost snow free. When we do get a decent storm it ought to be interesting since they couldn't plow worth a hoot with "experienced" plow drivers lol.

One year in the late 1990s when I worked we didn't work a full week for about 3 months. We had snow so bad we either got let out early or they closed the office at least 1 day a week. It was nuts.
1996 in January we had flooding for 2 consecutive weekends and the 3rd weekend we had a blizzard. We moved the day after the blizzard. Luckily, it was only 4 miles.
I remember that constant snow in the 90's. I usually got to work around 10am if at all. The bosses said come in at any time if you can make it. That was a scary time to drive and there was so much to shovel. And here we go again.

I'm in New Jersey and we're supposed to get between 8 and 12 inches of snow. It looks so pretty when it's coming down but it's hard to get out and about in.
