Why does anyone want to look tan? I can't think of anyone over the age of 25 who looks good with one real or otherwise.

You probably have an image in your mind of a darkly tanned woman. Tanning doesn't have to be dark. It can be a shade darker than your own skin. For example, if someone uses a fair foundation, they may use a self-tanner to achieve what would look like a medium tone foundation, which is just a tad darker for them. It just gives them the look of being outdoors in the spring and summer, not like they've been baking on a beach for hours.

Here's a idea, go outside and "get some color" naturally. Not only is good for you, it's free and looks better than the orange tinged self tanning products. It's recommended to get 15 minutes of sun everyday to increase your vitamin D level. That's not enough to cause wrinkles or cancer.

ITA, in summer months, I sit outside daily for about 20 minutes, Keep my face and chest covered with towel, and let my arms and legs get the rays with no sunscreen. Great source of Vit D, and no self tanners needed. Docs recommend doing this, I have read it and heard Dr Oz say it.

ITA! Worse yet why would anybody want to put poison on their skin?

I hate them all. They all stink. I don't think it's just about body chemistry. I could smell that awful Jergens stuff as soon as I opened it.

I also let the sun hit my body for awhile when it's warm outside. As has been stated, it's an important source of Vitamin D3.

And I like a little natural color from the sun.

I prefer getting a little sun.

I don't think it's dangerous in moderation.

I'm so fair that I need a bit of self-tanner just to look normal, LOL. I don't always get to sit out in the real sun in early to mid-spring, so putting self-tanner on my legs and arms allows me to break out the capris and short-sleeved shirts as soon as it gets warm.

I'm so sick of the orange comments. I haven't seen anyone look orange since high school when girls used that product that started with a Q (can't remember exact name). The modern self-tanners look very natural, IMO.

Tan Towels are the best I've use. The easiest as well.

Most everyone looks better with a little color.

I am extremely fair, and I've come to accept it!

I have to stay out of the sun.

The Tan Towels LOOK to me like the easiest method to use.

I am out in the sun a lot but my legs never tan. I have no idea what the deal is. I use self-tanner on my legs only so they match the rest of me.

My favorite tanner was discontinued and I've written Avon continuously begging them to bring it back to no avail.

I personally prefer the ones that I spray on because they are the easiest for me to use and I don't end up with streaks or build-up. I've tried tons of the sprays and most recently bought the Walmart version of St. Tropez spray but I haven't used it yet.

I know TanTowels get rave reviews but for me personally, this was one of the absolute worst tanning products I had ever used. The smell as the tan developed was so offensive, it woke me up in the middle of the night. My DH asked me to please go sleep somewhere else because it was so gross. I ended up showering at like 6:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning because I couldn't stand it anymore. As the "tan" from the towels started to wear off, my skin was all scaly and dry looking and it wore off in patches and I looked like I had a skin disorder. Never again.

Jergens is one of the worst smelling IMO but the knock-off brands like Target and Walmart don't have such a strong smell.

Over the summer I attended a wedding and all I smelled through the whole ceremony was that awful self-tanner smell. It was disgusting. Then I'd get a hint of the person's perfume mixed with the cat ur~ine smell.

When the ceremony was over I went to say something to my sister and realized it was her!
