ride service gogo grandparent

[ Edited ]

"...lets people use Lyft and Uber without a smartphone...."

Great idea for those needing it.  I heard about this just yesterday.

Agree it is a great service.  Someone (an adult child, for example) sets up an account on the grandparent's behalf, and manages the payments and trips for them.

I do not understand their "concierge service & fee."  Is that service outside of rides to & from your destination?

@Peaches McPhee  I don't think so. The website has a "click here" and a phone number, either of which one can use.

Step 1 register

Step 2 call

Step 3 press a number to request what you want

No mention of ha ing someone else set up and manage an account.

eta...This is not a typical ride hpme after a night out. I understand the vehicles and drivers are more accommodating of the age group or people with issues who need this service.

I would feel leery of putting my grandparent in a car with a stranger. Just sayin'...

Well they should have just named it gogo so people like me who don't use their smartphone to pay for anything can use their service.

@lovesrecess, I'm not one to worry too much about Lyft. I think that are quite safe overall. But if I were worried, it would more for teen or young person than a senior.

I was horrified when one of my teen-age granddaughters took Uber home from a party that became unruly....I told her to call me next time!

@lovesrecess  If you have to “put your grandparent in” maybe they shouldn’t go. Or you could drive them.

I think this service is for people who no longer drive for any number of reasons, physical or economical (they don’t want the expense of a car they seldom use).

Re: ride service gogo grandparent

we have already done this type of thing for my mom and some of her friends.

my daughters or i just order her a car when she is ready to leave.

when she is ready to get picked up we order her another car.

my mom is only allowed to have a flip phone.

no need for any special app or service.
