something new happened on my last trip.  They explained (at the front desk upon checkin) that the refrigerator in the room is monitored. If you go in an out of it you will be charged. Since I knew I was renting one I did not ask how much the charge is.

You are not allowed to store food or medication in these refrigerators.  If you need a fridge for that you can rent and it will be put in your room for a fee of course.  This  was something new.  Since i have meds that need to refrigerated I rented one.  It was there and chilled upon my arrival.  I didn't dare look to see what was in the other one!

Just thought I would share!

Wow!  I've never heard anything like that in my life!  I thought if you rented a room with a refrigerator then it was yours to use.  That's just crazy!

Ive rented rooms where the mini fridge didn't work.  When I brought it up they even deducted a portion from my bill.

Im sorry to hear that happened to you.💝. Do you mind sharing which hotel this was?

Franklinbell, I have never heard of this going on.  My dh & I just got back from a 3 day road trip and our motel had everything in it. Fridge,  microwave, coffee pot, blow dryer and a pool🤗🤗🤗

Hotels are gouging us just like the airlines. What is the purpose of having a fridge if you can't use it?

In May we will be away for 5 weeks in a hotel with a keurig, microwave and fridge. I have meds that need to be kept cold and we will be using it for our lunches

When traveling by car, we always have a cooler with us.  I'd have just used it.

I can't imagine how on earth they'd know if you even opened it up?  They couldn't possibly have known whether or not you put your medicine inside either.

That is just insane!  I would love to know what hotel this was and what they charged to rent a fridge.

Never heard of that.  We stay mostly in Hampton Inns or Hilton Garden Inns that have both a microwave and refrigerator.  Never charged for using either.
