Re: "Save the Date" announcements, and what they mean

[ Edited ]

We received our very first "Save the Date" announcement for a Wedding about two months ago and received the actual Wedding Invitation about a month ago...It is to take place several States away at the end of this month, so we made travel arrangements upon receipt of the announcement and didn't wait for the actual Invitation...I'm happy that it all worked out and that we received the actual Invitation...lol

I was just wondering that, since you received the "Save the Date" announcement for the wedding of the son of casual friends/neighbors, haven't you seen them at all during this time period, as I would think there would have been some mention of it?...I think it would be fine for you or your husband to just make reference to the wedding when you do happen to seen them again, since you stated that the wedding date is "fast approaching".

Re: "Save the Date" announcements, and what they mean

I appreciated the save the date announcement from my nephew re: his upcoming wedding. They live in a small town out of state with limited lodging/motels.  I was able to get a nice room with this advance notice.

I have always got an invite after the save the date card. It would be tacky, not too.

So have I and cannot imagine someone doing any different.  But if my name was stricken off their final invite list than would not be worthy of my time to concern myself since they are so tacky.

I agree.  But in all my years of receiving Save the Dates, I've never not received an invitation, and - other than the OP - I've never heard of it happening to anyone else either.

In this case, maybe the invitation was lost in the mail or maybe there's some other explanation.  I would definitely mention something in a casual way.
