So I'm reading "The Handmaid's Tale" and learned that the term "mayday" derives from the French word "m'aidez" which means "help me". I love learning about word origins and thought this was interesting.

@kaydee50 I'm only I think on Chapter 5 and am enjoying it very much. Scary to think the world could ever be like this. I knew a little bit about it but it's a very good read.

I knew the meaning of the word from some relatives that were enlisted during WWII
Maybe it was used during WWi since we had many troups in France.
