Re: "Lay flat to dry" in dryer?

Most of the time, I folow the Wash/Dry instructions.  However, I have a couple of sweaters that are pretty big on me.  I've thrown them in the dryer to see if they'll shrink up a little.  I didn't spend a ton of them so it didn't matter if they got out of shape, etc.

I have one of those wooden drying racks and you can't really lay sweaters or things flat on them anyway so when I use it, I'll hang it over one of the wood rods.

Re: "Lay flat to dry" in dryer?

I am the one that started this thread. I will go ahead and say what it is. I just bought it from QVC and it is Muk Luks lounge set ( top and pants).  On the label it says lay flat, however on the QVC website it said low dryer.  Since it is a lounge set (meaning I don't plan to wear in public) I think I will try low dryer.

It depends on the fabric and how much I paid for it.  I don't really have a safe place where my cats won't try to sit on it. Sometimes I drape it over my grandsons high chair since he usually doesn't come over on the weekend.

@spumoni99 I had forgotten about the cat issue.  I used to have an apartment-sized foldable drying rack which I used on the floor or on the bed for sweaters, and my cats used for a trampoline.

Gotta love those naughty fuzzballs! I have one of those racks also just takes so much room and I don't have much air dry anymore now that I'm retired.

@Puppy Lips  I wore lots of sweaters when I was younger.  Many times I would wear a tee shirt underneath them so I didn't have to launder them as frequently.

I place my folding drying rack in my tub.

A thick towel layed across the top.

I no longer have a cat, but I used to keep the bathroom door shut while drying items.

I've sometimes placed certain sweaters and items in the dryer for five or so minutes.  I always sat there, making sure I don't walk away.

Yes, I do.  It usually works out ok.  But I now have a drying rack that I bought from Amazon so I'm  rack drying and hanging a lot of things.

Re: "Lay flat to dry" in dryer?

I used to use a lot of Woolite Unscented years ago.

Several wool sweaters which I don't wear very often now because of (age related?) sensitivity.

Now I use various 'Free of dyes and scents, etc.' types of laundry detergents.  They seem to work just as well.
