Yes, "bloody" is used in England as a curse word. Here in the US it isn't considered much more than an emphasis.

Opps, sorry, I accidently posted too soon....
My great aunt came to visit us many years ago and she sat in front of the Television clucking away.... she was greatly offended at the use of this "curse word" on our television. She couldn't get over it (at the time) and was truly offended. I don't know if that would still be true today.
My Mother said that when she met my Father, her aunt and uncle were very much taken by the American military they had met because none of them swore!!! LOL! At least they didn't recognized our curse words.... LOL!
