Re: "Guaranteed" for Christmas

I cannot imagine how or why any shopping site is allowed to say that something is "guaranteed" to arrive on or before a certain date.  They have no control over that package once it's out of their hands.

There are weather issues not to mention accidents that happen, packages get lost, etc.  It's ridicilous for them to tout such a guarantee and worse that people rely on it.

Re: "Guaranteed" for Christmas

QVC isn't the only one doing this.  Many other sites are still guaranteeing x-mas delivery.

I flipped past Jewelry TV this morning and for just 99 cents more they will guarantee your package gets to you by x-mas eve.

Re: "Guaranteed" for Christmas

There are two responsible parties in this situation: customers and QVC.  Yet most are only blaming the customer.

In my opinion, QVC is not blameless. If they have no control over shipping as their defenders are saying, then they should stop making this guarantee.  Just.  Stop.

I do not think there is any justification for not telling customers the truth.

Any "guarantee" without consequences is meaningless.

When a "guarantee" of delivery by a specific date contains the consequence of the buyer getting the item free if it is not delivered on time the "guarantee" would mean something to both the buyer and seller.

I know that if I ordered an item that they were 'guaranteeing' delivery before Christmas, and it didn't arrive, I'd call and demand my shipping be refunded, at least.

So very right. There needs to be consequences when they don't fullfill their promises.

I ordered a gift card November 30th and just received it yesterday.  QVC uses a second party for gift cards, so when I called QVC they were of know help.  I got "Sorry" also.  There is no getting thru to the second party that handles gift cards.  I called the number and did manage to get someone on the phone but they automatically gave me another number that I was told to call.  With that number, you are on an eternal hold until it finally says "leave message and someone will call you back."  But they never did.  And no response from email either.  I will never purchase a QVC gift card again.

@ScrapHappy

Thank you for posting this information. I often have considered giving my mom a nice big QVC gift card, as she loves to shop here.

But, I would need the old fashioned kind, because she has no computer, no cell phone, and does all her shopping from Q off of TV and by phone.

Many years ago, I purchased a Q gift card for one of my son's teachers, and I don't remember having any difficulties getting it (and I hope she didn't have in using it), but it sounds like things aren't running well with that now. Good to know.

I was waiting for this thread to begin.  As you posted, there are people who must not have any awareness of what is going on ouside of their four walls.  Not only is the country experiencing terrible winter storms with icy roads, truck have been involved in some terrible accidents.  I wouldn't surprise me to find out some of the delay is because people's packages were on one of the wrecked trucks.  I've seen FedEx and UPS trucks laying on their side with boxes spewed everywhere.

I really would like to know what is going on in people's minds when they believe the promise of Christmas delivery.  Are they really that guillible?  Naive?  Too trusting?  No common sense?  It must be something or they would know better.

I still remember a few years back, the ridiculous rant from some woman (supposedly) whose entire Christmas was ruined because she didn't get the one present she bought for her little girl.  And how did she explain to her child that she had nothing to open because of big, bad QVC?

It was so over-the-top and so patently untrue that it really was laughable.  Literally.  I could just picture "poor, little Nell" with nothing under the Christmas tree.  (And, of course, the OP never reappeared.)

Too bad the moderators weren't on the boards back then or they could've investigated to find that, in fact, no order had been placed!  Woman LOL

I remember that thread!

It was in the "Q Did What?" forum, and if I remember correctly, the little girl had some sort of (learning) disability, and couldn't understand why she didn't get anything for Christmas, and was in tears.

You'd have a better shot with Santa Claus delivering it at this point! Smiley Very Happy

What I don't understand is people holding QVC to some special mommy & daddy god-like status above all other businesses. It's not like every other retailer isn't "promising" the same thing. Why does QVC have a super-special responsibility in this that no other retailer has?

They keep repeating it? People wouldn't be hearing it "all the time" if they didn't watch...wait for it...all the time. Most QVC customers don't watch day in and day out for hours at a time.

Re: "Guaranteed" for Christmas

I came across a couple of things today which promised Christmas delivery, things I ordered.

I figure there's a good chance they won't make it on time, but that's not a big deal, they're extras.

There are still good deals out there, I just ordered a Molton & Brown bath gel set from Costco that looks nice, a beautiful bracelet for DD which I may give to her on New Year's Eve and two cute umbrellas, one for her to keep at work.
