I can't help but make a comparison, with the death of Nancy Reagan today. In every photo they showed on TV of Nancy and Ronald together, he had such an adoring look in his eyes that was endearing and genuine. On the other hand, history has proven that Camelot was unfortunately not what it appeared to be.

Beautiful pictures, but JFK's infidelity put the lie to all the PR photos.

It was fake, created and disingenuous. What is there to admire about that?

That family and their past and their 'ways' has long been uncovered.
Agreed, I have very little respect for them.....
I've never understood the near worshiping of them and their relationship (perhaps back in the day when the media never exposed things like they do today, and people were unaware of all the true issues), since the truth has come out over the years.
I see no reason to pine for, or admire what that was, behind closed doors and in reality. It is no more romantic, or classy or dignified than what goes on in most of today's entertainment world, yet people are fascinated and buy into it for some reason.

It all depends on your political perspective, I suppose.
There is a sense of "near worship" of the Reagan administration on the other side of the aisle. I don't understand that.
The Kennedy years are romanticized, I suppose, but no more than the Reagan years are as well. I choose not denigrate either one because I find that to be a very un-classy thing to do on threads like these.

Your judgement of what was real and fake and created in this family is laughable and very presumptuous.

Why the unnecessary personal attacks on those who disagree with you? Seems to be your MO.

Old money has a way of doing things that isn't always right, the surface looks good but.....
So does "new money". No one family or group has a lock on deceitfulness. There's plenty to go around today, too. All you have to do is turn on the television or read the news.
But subject was Camelot and the pictures of back in the day, Old Money. That family was deceitful long before JFK became President.

Well, the truth isn't always classy.
The politics aside, there really is not much comparison in their relationships. The Reagans were very devoted to each other, but President Kennedy was not at all. The public built this idea of a Camelot, and we just weren't yet in the time of the media exposing the truth about our leaders. To continue to pretend it was something it wasn't is just foolish and kidding no one.

Please, the truth about them has been out for a very long time now.
