I just got off the phone with a friend living in North Dakota near
the Canadian border. She said that since early this morning the snow has been nearly waist high and is still falling. The temperature is gale force. Her husband has done nothing but look through the kitchen window and just stare. She says that if it gets much worse, she may have to let him in.

@Desertdi  I lived in Mesa for three years back in the early 70's.  I remember "Junes" way back when, but I bet it's worse now. Man Frustrated

@Desertdi The saving grace for AZ weather is that it is a dry heat. I am in the PNW and when we get in the upper 80's, it's miserable. We had quite a bout last summer. Most people here don't have air conditioners, but we finally bought a portable. Our summers have been getting hotter each year.

@pattypeep    We have a lot of humidity during the Monsoon Season (June, July & August) when the wind from the South brings the damp air in from Mexico.    We get dew points of 60-70°..........that's very muggy when the temp is 110°.   Today, the humidity was only 14%, tho.   Prevailing wind is from the NW at about 10mph, so it was pleasant.

I was born in New Jersey, grew up in Arizona, and I live in the Pacific Northwest now.

Once you get up to 100 degrees, all that talk about "dry heat" goes out the window.  Hot is hot.

Regarding humidity, you have no idea what humidity is until you've spent a summer in New Jersey.  What we have in the Pacific Northwest is nothing compared to that.

I agree, 100 is 100.  I don't care if it's called dry heat or wet heat, it's too hot for me.  Yes, humidity on the east coast is horrible.  My mother's unairconditioned house in CT is almost unbearable when the humidity hits.

I live in Phoenix.  And I have lived in New York.  I agree the humidity is horrible.  However when you get the highs in the summer  (for example 110 and above) its horrendous.  It is like walking outside into an oven.  I could go on and on about the horrendous stories we hear about heat related stories we hear that happen.  When you get that high of a heat...dry heat doen't make a bit of difference.  hot is hot.  Open the oven and feel the heat that comes out. That is what if feels like when you walk outside on our hotest days

and just try getting inside a car.

I don't think I could take the heat of the southwest.   Being from New England, yes the humidity can get tough in the summer but at least it is pretty temporary.  I'll take the four seasons any day of the week.
