Something occurred to me a little while ago ...

I have QVC on in background and I heard host say that something (I wasn't watching but think it was a handbag) was back in stock after having sold  ?? thousands last time it was offered.

If thousands bought it last time - what are the odds that thousands more people want the same item?

(She also said some other stuff that just "did not compute.")

Re: "Back in stock" question

I would think pretty good.  People like to buy what is popular and a couple of thousand people is a small percentage of people who shop at QVC, I think.

Re: "Back in stock" question

I do mental math in my head whenever they shriek out:

"How many  did we sell today????....!!! ...9000 sold.!!!!....1000 in THIS show alone!!!"

That's 180 units per state ( 9000/50).,,,in a country of 335 million people.

Now I know the population is not evenly distributed, but you get the idea. It ain't much.

And if it's a REALLY popular item, well, not to much of a stretch....

And when they say 3500 sold in the first five minutes of the TSV....well, you see what I mean!

Q says they're in MILLIONS of homes.

I don't think it's too far fetched ...180 each state....

UNLESS... it's the three 1/2 chickens for 110 dollars, sold  raw, YOU cook 'em.  Lucky if they sold 100 TOTAL in the US. If that.

Of course, they DO have commonly available "special spices" on them, and are magically "air" frozen..( the dead on Mt Everest are air frozen too....frozen is frozen)...

..I don't think many people fall for that!!!

I could be wrong....

( I also like to calculate...9000 of an item selling for 350 dollars ( an I-pad, Le Creuset, Vitamix, Magic Eye cream...( WOWWEE !!!...  9000 x 350 = 3.1 million dollars!!! by the end of David's show!!! Pretty good for 16 hours of air time!!!! (4PM)....

No WONDER they can have three hosts and two vendors!!!!

And remember....the Vitamix is SO much more than a blender!!!!

Re: "Back in stock" question

@ALRATIBA I believe the odds are pretty good. Thousands are a drop in the bucket compared to the viewership. If the item was a big hit, little returns, good reviews, etc., I would expect them to bring back a top selling item.

Re: "Back in stock" question

@ALRATIBA   I think the odds are good.  I rarely jum on the bandwagon the first couple of times I see one developing.  Sometimes all that means is that I order a TSV after 11:50 at night - other times it means I look for the look days later on the website.

But over 90% of the time recently, Ijust never buy,  Can't find a reason to own more jewelry, more clothes, more indoor accessories, or more handbags    --    even a "bargain" no longer entices me!  I'm a company's worst   scare.  I have money to spend, but I keep my buy list to myself.  I don't want or need an outsider to rattle my cage!

I did not watch so I did not hear.   Not a handbag, but I did notice that the Denim & Co. original waist pull on pants that they've sold a million of are back in stock.  The price is about twice as much from when they were made by the place that shut down.

Re: "Back in stock" question

I think the the odds would be pretty good.  If an item sells out quickly, that means it was very popular and thousands of people couldn't get it.  When they bring it back, those customers get their chance.  Remember QVC goes into millions of homes.  And then there are the QVC.com shoppers.

Wow!! $45+ s&h???!!!  I bought mine when they were well under $30.  Won't be buying anymore.  Have had good luck with Blair pants that are frequently on sale.

Re: "Back in stock" question

@Othereeeen. I do the same mental math, divide the number sold by 50 states. That puts it into perspective for me. This past week I was in CA working at a convention. I saw a woman who was wearing a Denim and Co dress. I have the same dress, so I had to say something to her. She looked nice in it and frankly I wish Gary would do more dresses like it.
