I have always known the lyrics of this song and I had the written music sheet(with lyrics) and used to play it and sing it a lot for years. I think the lyrics are dependent on where one let's their mind wander.
Hey, if it offends you? Don't listen to it. Once again the PC police have come to the rescue of people hearing such dastardly words. There was the no Merry Christmas(happy holidays), now this. What next?

I think its a joke that people today , would find fault with this song. I thought they were so liberated.
What do they think about their own stuff? Women are called offensive names and lots of other filth

The PC meme has nothing to do with this at all. Although I get that older generations like to tout that anytime something from their generation is disagreed with.

It wouldn't be the Christmas Season without someone getting their undies bundled about something!

M.a.y.b.e. it was the songs of yesteryear, which implied nefarious
sexual activities, which laid the groundwork for today's
more brazen, 'moral bankrupt' society, as many are saying.
At least with today's music, it's not implied or coyly suggested.
When I listen to Petey Pablo or Nine Inch Nails, I know exactly
what they mean because they say it.
It's just funny to hear it through different ears...especially with the
1940's mindset when social etiquette was much more strict.
That's what is being discussed....not the comparison of today.

Don't we have bigger things to worry about than trying to warp a sweet, playing hard to get, coy song into something more? Geez it gets ridiculous.
You can make anything negative, salacious, evil, or bad if you really try hard enough. It is depends on the mindset you have.
Try as some might, I personally will not stop listening to it and will enjoy listening AND singing it.

This is really charming, and the singing really good!
