breaking news.....
Naval Medical Center San Diego warned of a possible active shooter at the military hospital Tuesday morning and urged those at the facility to "run, hide or fight."
NMCSD posted the following notice to its Facebook page around 8:10 a.m. Tuesday:
“**!ATTENTION!** An active shooter has just been been reported in building #26 at Naval Medical Center San Diego. All occupants are advised to run, hide or fight. All non-emergency response personnel are asked to stay away from the compound, located at 34800 Bob Wilson Drive, San Diego, CA 92134.”

The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) confirmed that officials at NMCSD reported shots fired in the facility, but could not offer further details at this time.
NMCSD advised all personnel to not report to work and avoid the area. Officials at the facility told NBC 7 that, as far as they know, this is not an active shooter drill or training.
Individual buildings at the Naval hospital were all placed on lockdown, one employee said, and the front gate to the facility was also locked.
A staffer for the childcare center at NMCSD told NBC 7 employees at the facility have undergone training in the case of an active shooter situation. The staffer said the childcare center opens daily at 5:30 a.m., so there may be more than 200 children there right now.
“This is the first time I’ve ever seen this happen," the staffer told NBC 7. "I’m thinking this is something real serious if the SWAT team has to come in. It’s really concerning for me that there’s something going on at the hospital.”
At 9:08 a.m., officials posted this update for parents of kids at the childcare facility: "For all concerned, the childcare facilities at NMC are currently secured. All children are accounted for and safe."
At around 8:30 a.m., two California Highway Patrol officers were seen entering the facility through an emergency room entrance near Florida Drive. A steady stream of other patrol cars from multiple agencies, including the SDPD and Chula Vista Police Department, could then be seen flowing into the area surrounding the military hospital.
By 8:45 a.m., a SWAT truck was seen storming the facility.
Naval Base Point Loma has been placed on lockdown, military officials said.
Officials at the nearby San Diego City College said officers have set up a perimeter around the campus, but, as of 8:50 a.m., it is not on lockdown. Officials at Naval Base Coronado said that facility is not on lockdown either.
There are several other schools located near the Naval hospital, which have been placed on lockdown. Officials confirm those locked down schools include: Garfield Middle School on Oregon Street, San Diego High School on Park Boulevard and Roosevelt Middle School, also on Park Boulevard.

I just heard the breaking news report on the news, but nobody seems to have any real details as to the specifics. It's a large complex, and I guess the campus is on lock down.

Oh, no. This is terrible

Just read that LE has cleared the area, a basement gym, and found no shots fired. Three shots were reported by one witness, no others. Maybe someone was in the gym dropping weights, those can be frighteningly loud.

Wonderful news that it wasn't a shooting. Still enjoying the text that advised all to "Run, hide, or fight!" Great advice!
