There's nothing wrong with being, even looking, "older".
But job seekers and staff who are rarely wanting to learn, grow, remain relevant, and stay up-to-date is the issue for many employers.
And there's no need to be offended or huffy about it, as it's not pertinent to just you personally.
Our culture is youth-obsessed and superficial, like it or not, and that's just the way it is. If you can't be flexible, adapt, or take the attitude that you shouldn't have to, that's your problem.
Most other people realize that arrogance and self-importance impedes success.

BTW, I disagree re: their punctuation after period tip.
I've always double-spaced after them (& after my state, before my zip code), and probably always will.
That's the least likely, at least IMO, that will flag that you're over 45.
