new vacuum needed Shark or Dyson?

I've had it with my under $100 vacuums.

What is a better choice, dyson or shark? There are so many models within those brands it is hard to know what to buy.

My needs--we have 2 Birman cats and even though I clean almost daily I still see hair just drifting in the air sometimes. I have hardwood on the main level and carpet on the other levels.

Have to let you know that when I needed a new vac about a month and a half ago, the people on the boards urged me towards the Shark.

I got one love love love it! The boards are the BEST "consumer report"!

I gave away my Dysons in favor of Sharks.  I MUCH prefer Sharks.  I'll never have another Dyson vac.  My only problem with Shark is.....they always come up with new feature which make me want to buy yet another one!!!!!  Great vacuums!

I've never had a Dyson but I've been very happy with my Shark that I've had for several years. If it ever dies I will buy another Shark.

Re: new vacuum needed Shark or Dyson?

've never had a Dyson (kind of expensive) but I got that purple shark pro lift away at Walmart (at the time under $70 on sale) and I do love it for many reasons.

I think I would have tried the v33923 shark rocket powerhead because it is lighter than the one I have (10lbs vs 16lbs) and it does look like it stands up.

What I like about mine~

Even if you vacuum with any other vacuum, it scoops up a ton of pet hair and everything!

Very easy glide and swivel head and fits under many things.

Easy to clean!

Things I had to get used to:

"Lifting away" the top and then figuring out how to put it all back! (but once I got it,its okay)

Would rather it be lighter so any part or time I have to lift move it, it doesn't hurt my back (its 16lbs)

Shark!!!  If you want a Dyson, come to my house.  The canister Dyson went into the basement after the second use.  I have bought Sharks ever since.  Keep one in the garage, one upstairs and one on the main floor.

I'm looking to upgrade from my 20 year old Oreck, and asking around Shark is the name I'm hearing most as a recommended brand. I've heard this from people who have nothing but area rugs and no pets, to those who have carpeting in every room and multiple pets.

I'vehad my Shark for about a year, and I love it. It is so much lighter than any other vacuum I've ever had ( and I 've had a bunch ) that I use it more often, and my house is cleaner, LOL. Most important though, it does a great job.

I would get the Shark, probably one of the lift away models that has the extra attachment for hardwood floors.  I recently gave my son my Dyson because I just didn't like it as much as the Shark.
