Are you sure you found the same model? The model that was the TSV heats both the top and the bottom of the unit, unlike previous models. The TSV model allows you to use the griddle with the lid open for pancakes, unlike the earlier models.

I almost cancelled my order and was going to order from hsn, to get it sooner, until I realized the two units were not the same.

Funny, I listened to Rick's presentation at midnight and never heard anything about it getting bottom heat.  It was mentioned you could cook with the lid open, but it wasn't clear to me whether that meant bottom heat or just carryover cooking from the pre-heat.  It's also not mentioned on the item description page.

Ninja has this model as a 7 in 1, not a 9 in 1 that QVC claimes it is, but when I looked at the list in the presentation it appeared to be including a bunch of presets in the list which, to me, is not separate functions. The grill part itself is powered separately which supplies the bottom heat, but from looking at it, I see no place for the grease to go. That means smoke.  At least with my older model I can put water down in the bottom where the grease goes to keep it from smoking as much.  Even if I wanted this model, it looks like the footprint is the same as the XL which is too large for the place I have for it.
